Opportunity

Immediate and expert response was required when Maersk Line required a logistics provider with a portcentric warehouse for the Tesco supply chain. Maersk Line was tasked with transporting 750,000 bottles of wine, over a 48 hour period to support a Nationwide Tesco In Store promotion.

Action

Import Services received and shipped the 750,000 bottles of wine to two regional DC’s within the agreed timescale. The containers were de-vanned in Southampton, product re-palletised, cross docked and transported to TESCO RDC’s to pre planned booking slots.

Results

Import Services provided Tesco with an efficient supply chain solution to a time sensitive supply chain problem. This resulted in an aggressive schedule being met, costs in line with expectation and significant goodwill generated.

Tesco were particularly impressed with the process quality and delivery performance.
